1st Line IT Support Engineer - Central London - £32,500pa

Fully office based role

 

Are you a skilled IT professional with proven 1st Line support experience in a UK Higher Education setting? We’re looking for a reliable, confident and technically capable individual to join a leading UK university’s IT support team.

 

THE ROLE

You’ll be the first point of contact for staff and students, handling technical queries via phone, email and in person. From password resets and system access issues to basic hardware/software troubleshooting, your calm, can-do attitude will keep things running smoothly.

 

MAIN DUTIES

  • Provide responsive and professional 1st line technical support
  • Log, track and resolve incidents via the helpdesk system
  • Install and configure hardware and software as needed
  • Escalate complex issues to 2nd/3rd line teams appropriately
  • Deliver excellent customer service to a diverse user base

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience in a 1st Line IT Support role within a UK university or Higher Education institution
  • Familiarity with systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and common university platforms (e.g., SITS and Moodle)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment
