We are looking for an experienced a leader with significant experience of higher education marketing and recruitment, specifically the student journey from discovery to enrolment across UK and international markets. 12 month contract. The post-holder will be responsible for delivering and refining a well-established framework for optimising the prospective student experience. You will devise, own and govern the framework for communications to applicants, ensuring communications received along their application journey, from submission to academic decision, and for successful applicants from offer to acceptance, and acceptance to enrolment are accurate, compliant and effectively coordinated across all channels.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Lead and manage a Prospective Student Engagement and Communications team, specialising in applicant communications and conversion campaigns.
- Contribute breadth and depth of expertise in the field of prospective student engagement and communications.
- Work with student marketing, recruitment and admissions teams across the University to plan, devise, implement and evaluate activities for prospect conversion from discovery of the university through, where applicable, to application, offer, acceptance and eligibility for course enrolment.
- Lead the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of a programme of conversion campaigns to ensure all applicants receive a baseline communication experience that’s tailored to their applicant (and application) status.
- In consultation with Admissions colleagues, co-develop and write the content for the ‘transactional’ admissions-related system-generated communications
- Represent Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions (SMRA) department within connected governance committees and working groups, authoring and presenting discussion and decision papers
- Leadership responsibility for the Prospective Student Engagement and Communications (PSEC) function.
- Budget responsibility for the Prospective Student Engagement and Communications (PSEC) function, including staffing, operational and strategic investment budgets.
Experience, knowledge and qualifications
- Ability to lead within and proactively advocate for a customer service culture.
- Ability to take an analytical and data-driven approach to understanding the impact and performance of engagement and communication initiatives.
- Experience of planning, developing, delivering and evaluating lead generation and conversion campaigns, and of using tailored and relevant content to support prospective student engagement and conversion.
- Experience of adhering to brand, tone of voice and style guidelines.
- In possession of specialist copywriting skills, ideally with experience of creating content which engages higher education applicants and/or students.
