We are seeking an experienced and highly organised professional to support postgraduate research activity within the Faculty, with a particular focus on strengthening and streamlining application processes.
This short-term role is ideal for someone with a strong background in managing postgraduate applications, either at Masters or Research Degree level, who can quickly assess and manage existing processes
Role overview
Working closely with senior academic leads and professional services colleagues, you will provide strategic and operational support across the postgraduate research lifecycle. A key priority will be reviewing and enhancing application and admissions processes to ensure they are efficient, compliant, and aligned with best practice.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a focused review of Faculty PGR application and admissions processes, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Provide expert advice on PGR regulations, quality assurance, and sector expectations
- Support the oversight of the PGR lifecycle, with particular attention to recruitment and admissions workflows
- Use data and insight to inform process improvements and decision making
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Registry, Doctoral College, and academic teams
- Support governance processes, reporting, and committee activity as required
- Line manage the Faculty Research Degrees Administrator during the assignment
About you
You will bring:
- Proven experience supporting postgraduate research or Masters applications within UK higher education
- Strong working knowledge of admissions processes, regulations, and quality assurance frameworks
- Experience advising senior stakeholders with confidence and clarity
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose process issues
- Experience leading or contributing to service improvement initiatives
- Strong communication and organisational skills
