ON HOLD WHY WE ASSESS APPLICATIONS
Part-Time (3 Days per Week) | Fixed-Term until 31 July (with potential extension into early August)
We are seeking an organised and proactive professional to provide short-term support within a Faculty Research Degrees team during a key admissions and recruitment period.
This role will focus on coordinating postgraduate research application processes, ensuring applications move efficiently through Faculty review stages and supporting academic colleagues throughout the decision-making process.
The position would suit candidates with higher education administration experience, particularly within postgraduate, research degree or student administration environments. However, applicants with strong public sector administration experience and excellent organisational skills are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Faculty review process for postgraduate research applications.
- Coordinate applications between Admissions, academic reviewers and Faculty stakeholders.
- Monitor application progress and ensure actions are completed within agreed deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and tracking systems.
- Liaise with academic staff, professional services colleagues and other stakeholders to progress applications and resolve queries.
- Support progression and student-related administrative processes where required.
- Complete documentation and process decisions in accordance with Faculty procedures.
- Help ensure a smooth handover and continuity of service during a busy recruitment cycle.
About You
You will be highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple processes simultaneously. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders and able to maintain accurate records while meeting tight deadlines.
Essential
- Experience in higher education administration, student administration or a comparable public sector environment.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Experience coordinating processes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise competing demands.
Desirable
- Experience supporting postgraduate or research degree administration.
- Experience managing application or admissions-related processes.
- Familiarity with university systems and academic environments.
- Experience working with academic staff and committees.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a friendly and collaborative Faculty team and play a key role during a critical admissions period. The emphasis is on process management, stakeholder coordination and ensuring applications move smoothly through Faculty review stages rather than undertaking detailed admissions assessments.
Candidates available to start immediately will be particularly welcomed.
