Salary: £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience. Hybrid role - very flexible.
Are you legally trained with experience in contracts, compliance or due diligence and looking for a varied, hands-on role?
We are recruiting a Legal & Compliance Officer to join a busy organisation where you will support a broad range of contract and compliance activity. This is a practical role with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organisation and managing a high volume of detailed work.
You will be responsible for carrying out supplier and third-party due diligence, reviewing contracts and legal documentation, maintaining compliance records and supporting the updating of policies, NDAs and contractual templates.
What will you be doing?
- Carrying out supplier and subcontractor due diligence and Know Your Supplier checks
- Undertaking background and sanctions screening
- Reviewing contracts and comparing terms against agreed templates
- Highlighting differences, missing information or potential areas of concern
- Reviewing and processing NDAs and other standard agreements
- Updating legal templates, policies and procedures
- Checking contractual and funder requirements and accurately recording findings
- Responding to due diligence and compliance requests
- Maintaining accurate records and clear audit trails
- Following up outstanding documentation and progressing agreements to completion
- Managing a high volume of detailed and sometimes repetitive compliance activity
What are we looking for?
You will need a legal qualification or strong formal legal training, together with some practical experience within contracts, compliance, due diligence or a related environment.
Most importantly, you will be someone who is:
- Exceptionally organised and detail focused
- Comfortable working through high volumes of documentation
- Accurate and consistent, even when undertaking repetitive checks
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own workload
- Professional, dependable and reliable
- Confident reviewing contractual documentation
- Able to recognise when something does not look right and needs escalating
Experience within an in-house legal team, compliance, procurement, supplier management, charity, research, public sector or another regulated environment would be particularly useful.
