Job Description

Receptionist / Administrator – £14.95ph plus Hol Pay

Start 19th April 2021 – 30th June 2021 initially

Remote working – may be required to visit the office on occasion


We are recruiting for an experienced Receptionist / Administrator to join one of London’s leading Universities. If you have previous experience gained within a Higher Education institute, we’d love to hear from you!



  • First point of contact on the phone
  • Manage the shared email inbox 
  • Support the team with online platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • Updating the website, particularly the ‘People’ pages section 
  • Updating mailing lists 
  • Raising purchase order numbers for events (including speakers) and estate related matters
  • Dealing with courier requests 
  • Purchasing equipment for Departmental staff 
  • Liaising with the Departmental Manager and Deputy Manager to provide support for all Estates related work
  • Providing support for the Manager (secretarial work)
  • Providing administrative support for all members of staff within the Department


Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a similar administrative role
  • Experience of working at a reception desk/area including meeting and greeting internal and external customers and answering a wide range of enquiries
  • Experience of dealing effectively with a wide range of people and external organisations and agencies
  • Experience of organising own workload within deadlines and with competing demands, exercising initiative and working independently
  • Experience of using a range of computer software packages
  • Previous experience of working within Higher Education
  • Proven customer service skills with an understanding of how to provide excellent customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment, displaying a flexible and friendly attitude with the ability to ‘trouble shoot’
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Professional, patient and courteous attitude
  • A commitment to high quality service delivery in a customer focused environment
