This is a hands-on role where your creativity, insight and coordination skills will directly impact the student experience. We’re looking for a creative and organised communicator to lead student-facing communications during a key point in the academic year.
In this Paternity cover role, you’ll take the lead on planning and delivering the university’s Welcome, Induction & Transition programme, while curating newsletters, managing communications calendars and supporting student engagement campaigns across the year.
You’ll be central to improving how students receive, understand, and act on key information - from onboarding and enrolment to wellbeing, academic success, and community-building.
What you’ll do
- Lead communications for Welcome, Induction & Transition
- Write and edit newsletters (e.g. Student News, Study Well)
- Coordinate engaging campaigns across digital channels
- Advise colleagues on inclusive, student-focused messaging
- Collaborate with academic and professional teams to align messaging
- Evaluate communication effectiveness and student engagement
What you’ll bring
- Experience in communications, marketing, or student engagement
- Excellent writing and content creation skills
- Strong organisational and project management ability
- Confidence using digital tools (CRMs, social media, web platforms)
- A collaborative, proactive mindset with attention to detail
- Understanding of the Higher Education Landscape, student life and barriers to engagement, especially for underrepresented groups
