Teaching and Learning Administrator - £15.66ph Plus Hol Pay – Central London

Duration: 3 months initially


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Course Administration

  • Act as a point of contact for prospective and current students in person, via telephone and email.
  • Provide information on procedures, regulations, programme and module choice.
  • Support induction and start of session arrangements, including module registration, collation and distribution of welcome packs, meeting and greeting students, issuing passes as required.
  • Process module approvals and amendments in line with targets.
  • Support module leaders with the administration of their modules.
  • Allocate students to lecture groups/seminar/workshops/dissertation supervisors.
  • Review and monitor student attendance.
  • Update and brief academic/teaching staff on attendance procedures and student registration requirements.
  • Create template letters for students following exam boards.

Examinations and Assessments

  • Set up Moodle/Turnitin submission boxes and manage electronic submissions, marking and feedback for designated modules.
  • Create marks spreadsheet templates to support the collection and tracking non-submissions.
  • Process final marks, coordinate and produce mark sheets for examinations.
  • Apply and keep record of relevant mark penalties and extensions for designated modules.
  • Populate coursework tracking spreadsheets.
  • Track, collate and format examination questions and solutions.
  • Upload coursework and exam marks onto Portico and produce module report form templates for exam boards.
  • Service examination boards and committees including room and catering bookings, agenda setting and minute taking where required.
  • Support logistical arrangements for departmental exams.
  • Invigilate departmental exams as needed.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for external examiner audit.
  • Support the academic misconduct process, to include organising panels and relevant communications.
  • Produce reports for designated programmes and modules upon request.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience of administration in higher education or a teaching and learning environment.
  • Familiarity with online learning environments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Computer literate, including Word, Excel, Outlook, shared online documents, video conferencing systems, email and internet.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
  • Ability to meet time-critical schedules.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with high volumes of processing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
