A new starter is an exciting opportunity to enhance your team and it is essential to make them feel welcomed and supported from day one. As a manager, creating a positive induction experience will set the tone for their success and integration into the team.
💟 Start by preparing for their arrival. Ensure their workspace, equipment and access to necessary tools or software are ready. A clean, organised space makes them feel valued and ensures they can hit the ground running.
💟 On their first day, greet them personally and give them an overview of what to expect. Take time to introduce them to key team members and provide a tour of the office (or a virtual tour if working remotely).
💟 Offer a structured induction plan, including key information about the company, its culture and your team’s goals. Set up regular check-ins to address any questions or concerns and provide opportunities for them to shadow colleagues or participate in team activities.
